Game Modes

There are currently three game modes for Firearms: Source. Each of these modes existed in the original modification.

Weapons

Firearms: Source uses a credit system so players can freely buy weapons, armor and equipment up to their credit limit Credits are not effected by kills or skill so a player joining a session half way though will be able to buy exactly the same load out as the players already in game. There are also predefined classes for new players. Weapons vary in cost according to their capability, ranging from the cheapest sidearm, up to the heavy sniper rifle (the M82A1). A knife is automatically equipped to every player for no cost. Ammunition is free, and can be collected from ammunition boxes throughout most maps.

Skills

By spending skill points, players can buy skills which improve character performance (for example, by increasing accuracy). Players initially have 1 skill point to assign, with 1 additional skill point for every 10 points the player acquires. When the player dies they are given the option to reconfigure their skills and loadout. There are 6 different skills to choose from, each of which have three levels.
